Windows and Doors

Inside the house, things are now beginning to look enclosed:

The next step in enclosure is windows and doors. The windows and doors arrive in one shipment and are unloaded from the truck into a stack:

The windows used here are standard vinyl windows. They are placed in each rough opening and stapled in place on the outside.

The installation of windows is simple, attaching the window by it's flange, making sure there is little pressure placed on the window itself. If done properly, the window will operate easily without jaming.

Doors

The basic doorway in your home has a very simple structure: A large board is attached to a frame using a few "pin" hinges. This design has a number of advantages -- it is easy to build, easy to install and easy to repair. Of course, it is also very easy to disassemble -- removing the hinge pins completely detaches the door from the frame.
